How does anyone walk away from Christ?

Last Tuesday night, we had a Bible study at our house. One of the questions that came up was, “Why Does God give people over to the hardness of their hearts?” Of course, this is a phrase that shows up throughout the Scripture. As we searched the Scriptures and thought about the issue, my heart was stirred. I remembered so many of the students we worked with who at one time walked with the Lord but are not any longer. How do you deal with this? At what point do you stop chasing them? Did Jesus chase people or was He more concerned with those who wanted to keep pursuing Him. We know one thing, His word is clear. In 3 of the 4 Gospels, Jesus says, “If anyone wants to come after Me, let him deny Himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.” In Luke’s Gospel, there is one extra word added, the word is: daily. A commitment to Christ is played out daily and often times, the youth pastor is a crucial component of model that. We believe in youth ministry locally. We believe in youth ministry globally. Many things differ, but the aforementioned fact remains the same, FOR SURE.
